Screencast-o-Matic is a free Java-based web application used to create screencasts. A screencast is a short video where you can record your voice and show what you are doing on your screen.

Administrative ImplicationsConsider having a flipped staff meeting using Screencast-O-Matic. Share beginning of year procedures or specific technology uses such as how to use a shared Google doc for the staff meeting agendas. Communicate with parents by recording a video of how to access your school website or the parent portal of Power School.

Classroom Implications

Teachers can use this tool to record laptop or assignment procedures for students. It can also be used for a blended or flipped classroom. Teachers can record directions for self-paced assignments to be used during differentiated instruction.
