Our new North Carolina Standard Course of Study is built upon the new standards that demand a new approach to teaching and learning. This summer, educators across North Carolina attended Summer Institutes where they built upon last year's topic of the "what" of the new standards. The focus this year was the "how" of implementation.

Activity: Designing 21st Century Classroom Experiences

Understanding TPACK

TPACK: TPACK is knowledge of the dynamic, transactional negotiation among technology, pedagogy, and content and how that negotiation impacts student learning in a classroom context.


The essential features are (a) the use of appropriate technology (b) in a particular content area (c) as part of a pedagogical strategy (d) within a given educational context (e) to develop students' knowledge of a particular topic or meet an educational objective or student need.
